Public Beta

Public Beta is the publicly accessible integration environment of the Swiss Confederation's trust infrastructure.

The aim is for participants in the planned ecosystem – companies, associations, authorities and private individuals – to gain first-hand experience of the technology, organisation and processes.

The number of participants is unlimited, and participation is free of charge.

Information for private individuals

Private individuals can already test the swiyu Wallet as part of the Public Beta:

A Beta-ID can be obtained with swiyu Wallet. The Beta-ID is for test purposes only.

Public Beta test applications

Public Beta test applications are listed here. The e-ID programme accepts no responsibility for these applications. Further test applications can be reported on GitHub. They will then be listed here.

Information for issuers and verifiers

Organisations and individuals who verify e-IDs and also wish to issue and verify other digital credentials can do so as part of the Public Beta.

In particular, it is possible to simulate the verification of an e-ID using the Beta-ID. The Beta-ID has the technical features of the future e-ID but has no legal force.

The Generic Issuer and Generic Verifier make it relatively easy to implement the issuing and verification processes on your own systems. These software components are available free of charge as open-source software under an MIT licence.

Technical documentation and repositories

Currently, the swiyu Wallet only supports credentials from issuers that are listed in the base register. It is therefore recommended that you register in the base and trust register. These registers are for test purposes only; they have no legal force.

Security in public beta

Public beta is a test system!
The availability of public beta is guaranteed on a best-effort basis. A bug bounty programme (reward for ethical hackers) will be launched in the course of 2025 to test the systems and identify and eliminate possible vulnerabilities.
