The Beta ID is a test version of the e-ID. It allows you to test the verification of an e-ID. The Beta ID has the technical characteristics of the future e-ID but has no legal validity.
Those who use a Beta ID can provide feedback and help improve the e-ID.

As part of Public Beta, you can create a Beta-ID for testing purposes via the Confederation's Beta Credential Service.
Under the option ‹Request a Beta-ID›, you can generate this demo credential, which you can then add to your wallet by scanning a QR code.
Although the attributes of the Beta-ID correspond to those of the future e-ID, it does not constitute a legally valid form of identification.

The Beta ID can be confirmed or revoked – that is, made invalid – via the official Beta Credential Service.
Important:
- Revocation is final and cannot be undone.
- To revoke, you need the Beta ID number, which can be found in the Beta ID’s detail view.
