Electronic learner driver permit (eLDP)
The federal government is running specific projects to gather practical experience for developing the eID and trust infrastructure. It is using the eLDP to test the trust infrastructure planned for the e-ID – in particular the wallet – and hopes to learn from users.
The electronic learner driver permit is also available electronically

Once learner drivers have passed the theory test, they will receive instructions on how to obtain an eLDP. To do this, they must first install the swiyu Wallet on their smartphone and then use the QR code or SMS link to obtain the digital document issued by the road traffic authority. The eLDP is valid throughout Switzerland and the Principality of Liechtenstein.
The eLDP is a federal pilot project. It was developed together with the Association of Cantonal Road Traffic Offices (asa).
First step: Install the swiyu Wallet and open LicenceCheck

Install the swiyu Wallet so that you always have your eLDP to hand.

Open the LicenceCheck app to verify an eLDP.
Three questions and answers
When can I use my eLDP?
Whenever you are on the road as a learner driver.
Where can I use my eLDP?
Your electronic learner driver permit (eLDP) is valid throughout Switzerland and the Principality of Liechtenstein.
How can I protect my eLDP?
Never leave your smartphone unattended and always protect it with a code, FaceID or similar mechanism. Before you present your digital learner's licence, make sure that the other person is authorised to receive your data and that only the necessary information is transmitted. Your data is only stored on your smartphone and it is up to you to decide what information you transmit to whom. If you lose your smartphone, you must apply for a new electronic learner driver permit (eLDP) from the driver and vehicle licensing office.
